Given my general personality, you would think dressing my baby was my favorite thing from the get-go. Not true. She was born right before the great heatwave of 2013 that hit NYC and if you live here or visited during that time, it was like the Sahara desert. Add in diaper changes every hour, and really, I had no desire to keep changing her outfits after all the spit up and blowout shows that were happening. Let’s just clear the air and say that my child lived in a diaper, a swaddle or a white onesie for at least the first 4-6 weeks of life. I hope this ‘pantless summer thing’ doesn’t continue into her adult years… that could get awkward. She had a couple of fancy get-ups for when people stopped by to see her. Other that that, the white onesie was all that prevailed.
Finally, once we were two months in, I started to really love having her be my personal dress up doll. At that point, she began to fill out her baby clothes and still doesn’t have the option to tell me no….. so it’s a win-win. Nowadays, it takes me longer to dress her than myself. Go figure. Everything is just cuter when it’s miniature. Am I right, or am I right?
Now, one of my favorite things to do is dress her up in all the funky clothes she has before she starts crawling, throwing food and coloring on herself! Then we may revert back to the topless diaper only days.
