Friday in iPhone // New With Us

When becoming a mother, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I loved kids and my life-long dream was to be a wife and mother, but a lot of fears came along with these titles. I was never a very confident person and I still struggle with this a lot. I hold onto things very tightly and love with all my heart. I’m a very attached, yet, very non-attached person. I actually try very hard not to attach myself to people in fear of becoming “attached” and getting hurt in the long run. I have always struggled with this and I am learning daily to embrace and let this fear go. The awesome thing is my daily inspiration comes from my children! They teach me so much about just living freely and loving freely. They have the biggest eyes and the biggest hearts and they teach me something new every day. This year my 2014 New Years resolution was something a bit different than the usual one you would hear. But it was to, “see things through their eyes”. I honestly can’t even tell you how much this resolution is changing my life. It has made me into a better person, but more importantly a better wife and mom.

To “see things through their eyes”, you see mystery. You see beauty. You see adventure. You see hope. You see forgiveness. You see greatness. Everything is bigger than you and you stand in awe of things. You leap without thinking twice and just dive into life. You love with open arms. My children teach me so much more than I could ever teach them!

Another daily joy for me as a mom, is watching my children do things and learn things for the very first time. I think it goes hand-in-hand with my New Years resolution. To learn from them, you need to learn who they are and what they are loving and learning themselves. I compiled a few photos of “firsts” and “new things” that we have going on with us lately!  We love to experience life together, even in the little things. I think that’s what keeps an ordinary life, extra-ordinary. Embracing the small things in your day-to-day and making them into exciting things, like - seeing things through their eyes...

happy baby
Silas is learning new words, like “Ball”.

girls shoes
New shoes for Miss Everly.  She definitely loves shoes and is ALL girl!

New dress for mama = happy mama!

New adventures, like pulling out drawers in the fridge to get to the whip cream on the top shelf.

Newbie to Starbucks, enjoying his very first fruit smoothie.  Really though, what is life without Starbucks?

And a newbie to chickfila cookies & cream milk shakes.  Getting them hooked way too young, bad mom, or awesome mom?

New found skill, learning how to pump her legs and swing all by herself.

Shhhh…. There’s a new baby in the house and Everly is nursing her to sleep.  Her name is Everly.  (I thought that was the sweetest thing when she named her baby after herself.)

I would love to hear something fun that you are learning from your children, or something new that is going on in your life that you would like to share!  Leave a note in the comments  :)

I don’t have children (one day!), but my sister who I’m extremely close to had her first last week and I’m in love. Can’t wait to experience everything you’ve shown above with my new niece, and my own kids some day. Such lovely photos.

Also, I saw awesome mom re: Chick-fil-A milkshake. It’s not like they have it everyday right? ;-) And love your new dress!
