Parents’ Day: The “Best Things” Only Parents Could Understand

One of the greatest titles in the world is parent, and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call mom and dad.” – Jim DeMint

Everyone knows that moms have Mother’s Day and dads have Father’s day, but did you know that, together, parents have Parent’s Day? The fourth Sunday of every July celebrates parents of all sorts. As Parents’ Day approaches, June and January would like to acknowledge this special day with a list of some of our favorite parts about being a parent.

1. Baby’s first word

The moment our babies utter their first word, it could be; dada, mama, mommy, mom, dad, or any word, our excitement becomes immeasurable. What was your baby’s first word?

2. The first walk

Around one year, give or take a month or two, most babies start to stand up and try to walk. I remember seeing my little ones make their first walking attempts. It’s an overwhelming feeling of mixed emotions - excitement at them growing up, and sadness that they’re growing too fast.

3. First day of school

Who says that kids are the only ones excited for the first day of school? I think, sometimes, parents are more excited than the kids. Some are excited and proud at how fast their kids are growing up. Other parents are excited for some quiet time.

Happy Parent’s Day, fellow parents! What special “parent” moments do you cherish the most?
